COVID-19 And Our Water Treatment - What You Need To Know

March 23, 2020

Water has always been crucial to our survival. But the coming challenges from climate chaos and new diseases are about to put it into sharp perspective, and hopefully we can protect water in time. Based on the current evidence with COVID-19, The EPA is reporting the risk of the Coronavirus being found in our water supplies is low, but not out of the question.

Most Americans drink water without giving it a second thought. However; a recent report, discovered that more than 300 different contaminants were in local drinking waters across the nation. Some of these contaminants, such as TTHMs, are potentially cancer causing in addition to causing other health ailments such as skin irritation, hair loss, dry skin, bladder infections and more.

What they found was that not only were the legal limits outdated, but they were also not within safe limits.

Here's just some of the contaminants that were found:

  • Chlorine & Chloramine
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Haloacetic Acids
  • PFOs, PFAs, PFOAs
  • MTBE and TTHMs
  • Herbicides, Pesticides, Sulfur
  • and more

With our current situation, the CDC has not been testing our local municipalities for COVID-19 but give us this message: "The COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking water. Conventional water treatment methods that use filtration and disinfection, such as those in most municipal drinking water systems, should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19."

Our water quality has increasingly become a serious, everyday issue for many Americans.  Our local municipalities do not have systems in place to deal with these type of new Viruses and Contaminants.  Your local municipality is using chlorine and chloramine to kill the common bacteria found in the water.  So not only does our water now taste like pool water, it also creates additional by-products as well as ignores the fact that we have TTHMs, VOCs, pesticides, herbicides, Lead, and other harmful contaminants still lingering in our water.

Some of these contaminants such as TTHMs are cancer causing as well as creating other issues such as skin irritation, dry skin, hair loss, bladder infections and more.  One of the biggest concerns are families assuming our municipality, that we pay each and every month, is giving us quality water.  Unfortunately that is not the case!
